 This is the site of the first permanent European settlement in New England; Plymouth is now a fishing and tourist center with ship-related industries and cranberry-packing houses. Plymouth, known for it's rich history, is full of many seaside attractions. Walk along our beautiful harbor and you will enjoy such sites as the Mayflower II ship, a reproduction of the type of ship that sailed from England in 1620 which carried Pilgrim's to the New World. Take a step back in time, on board, interpreters portray actual passengers and crew. We are also home to the Plimoth Plantation where history repeats itself - 17th century New England is brought to life in the 1627 Pilgrim Village. Visitors find themselves transported in time by Pilgrims and the ship's crew who are portrayed in amazingly accurate detail, even speaking in period dialects as they perform the tasks of daily life. Plymouth Rock, where it all began, and the Wax Museum which tells the pilgrim story in the magic of light, sound, and animation, are just a few of the dozens of attractions that bring people from all over the world to visit this picturesque New England seaside community. As you can see, it's no suprise that living and working in a place so rich in history and culture, has evolved into such an adoration for model ships. They have fought battles of epic proportions, enabled countries to prosper with merchantry and carried brave men, women and children of all nations to new and better worlds.
